100 volunteers of BRCS provide aid to needy people

The Secretary General of the Bahraini Red Crescent Dr. Fawzi Amin sent a message to the Red Crescent volunteers in the Kingdom of Bahrain on the occasion of the International Day of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which is celebrated on the eighth of each year and marks the birth of Henry Dunant, founder of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

“This year’s slogan is to celebrate the international movement and 150 years of its creation, as well as the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The message is the love and passion attracts us to this international movement, 14 million active volunteers and 450,000 employees of the International Federation to provide relief and humanitarian services to 160 million needy around the world through 190 national societies in the world.” Dr. Amin said.

“In Bahrain, we fulfill our humanitarian duty through nearly 100 active volunteers and 20 employees who provide services to 4400 Bahraini families. Their services extend beyond Bahrain in the past years to include the construction of schools, hospitals, shelters, disaster assistance and training in coordination with national associations in more than 30 countries.” Dr. Amin added

Dr. Amin thanked all volunteers and staff working to reach the needy and contribute to alleviating their suffering and responding effectively to crises and disasters around the world.
