An ad-hoc committee set up to manage the contributions made to “Feena Al Khair” campaign has coordinated with the education ministry to distribute 10,000 laptops to students from needy families.

The laptops will be used by the students as the new academic year starts with courses to be delivered virtually following the restrictions taken by the authorities to ensure the safety of students and school staff.

The Executive Committee, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, had assigned the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) to set up the committee to oversee the distribution of the funds from the contributions to Feena Al Khair to help needy families during the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, the RFH Secretary-General and the chairman of the committee, said that the Tender Board has completed awarding the project to provide laptops to needy students as one of the initiatives approved by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.

The Feena Al Khair laptop donations are part of the drive by the committee to provide assistance after HH Shaikh Nasser approved several initiatives under a BD17.43 million budget.

The initiatives include supporting needy categories, productive families and business owners not registered in the insurance system, and providing laptops to students from needy families.

They also include contributing to the sanitization of cities and villages, providing food baskets within the “Your food at Home” project, establishing a center for studying and treating epidemics, supporting software and distance learning technologies, and supporting debtors.
