Crowne Plaza Bahrain (InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®) joined colleagues from all over the world to take part in IHG Foundation Week, an event that aims to raise awareness and funds to support its colleagues and communities around the world in times of calamities and natural disasters.
This year, almost 200 of the management and team of the Crowne Plaza Bahrain participated in as many activities during the week-long event that included clothing donation, bake and garage sale, movies nights and bingo, volunteer support to Sneha Recreation Centre, refreshments for construction labourers, mini Olympics and walkathon. A total of 880 pledges have been raised for IHG Foundation site, in return IHG will donate USD for every pledge given.
The new charity operates independently from IHG’s commercial operations, and reinforces IHG’s focus on positive community impact and environmental stewardship. It focuses its activities on four key areas – helping communities to develop skills in hospitality, providing support for those impacted by disasters, facilitating local community investment and protecting the environment. Mr. Gilles Nicolas, General Manager, Crowne Plaza Bahrain, commented: “We were really excited to join the rest of IHG colleagues from across the globe to raise awareness and funds for IHG Foundation. Our pledge to have about 880 acts of participation was not only great fun; it has also motivated and engaged our people, and raised money for a fantastic cause.”
