‘AGU’ Appoints New Distance Learning Programme Head

The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) President Dr Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al Ohaly recently issued a resolution appointing Education and Technology Design Assistant Professor Dr Taysir Mohammed Nahar Al Khazali as the Director of the University’s Distance Learning Programme.

Dr Al Khazali obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a diploma in education from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1983. He joined Yarmouk University (YU) in Jordan and worked there in the field of educational research and student counselling during the period 1983-1986.

He later joined the University of Kansas (KU) in the state of Kansas in the United States of America and obtained a Master’s degree in educational psychology, specialising in gifted education in 1987 and his thesis was titled  “Talent Concepts: Cross-Cultural Comparisons”.

Dr Al Khazali returned to YU and worked there as an Educational Research Coordinator in the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research until he joined Ohio State University (OSU) in the United States of America, from which he obtained his PhD in the field of education technology design in 1995, and his thesis was titled “A Proposed Plan for the Adequate Employment of Computer Technology in Jordanian Schools”.

He started teaching in universities from 1995 to 2012 at YU, Zarqa Private University ZU and the Arab Open University in Jordan, in addition to the College of Education in Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman and the National Center for Talent and Creativity Research at King Faisal University (KFU) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He then joined AGU in the 2012-2013 academic year.

Dr Al Khazali published numerous educational researches specialised in scientific journals in both Arabic and English on topics including school reformation, the use of information and communication technology in education, technology transformation, e-learning, integrated learning, contemporary research trends in distance education and online teaching.

He also supervised many of the Master’s theses in education technology and distance learning, and he participated in several courses, educational workshops, and many Arab and international educational conferences.
