‘AGU’ Develops E-learning Platform “Moodle”

Under the patronage of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) President Dr Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al Ohaly, the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) inaugurated the updated version of the E-Learning platform “Moodle”; one of the most popular E-Learning and course management systems in the world.

On this occasion, CGS Dean Dr Soud Al Mahamid stated that the development of this platform is part of the E-Learning development strategy of AGU, adding that the platform contains many distinctive features, including broadcasting and recording lectures, and a three-dimensional technology that allows the user to see the lecturers and the other attending students.

Dr Al Mahamid also explained that the platform also enables professors and students to communicate easily, follow up, and evaluate in addition granting them access to the recording of the lecture at any time. Additionally, the developed platform system facilitates supervising the PhD and Master’s degree projects, as well as attendance registration and group discussions.

On the other hand, E-learning Specialist at AGU Mr. Arpan Stephen obtained an accredited E-teacher certificate from Moodle, where he was granted this accreditation after passing 22 digital competencies specialised in E-Learning techniques from Moodle headquarters in Australia.

He also obtained other certificates of participation, digital competence, digital resources, teaching and learning, assessment, learners’ empowerment and facilitating learner digital competence.
