‘AGU’ Organises ‘Research Day’ on Monday

The College of Medicine and Medical Science (CMMS) at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) is organising its annual Research Day activities on Monday April 5, 2021, with the participation of 36 scientific papers under the clinical medical research and basic science research categories.

Launching at 8:30 am, the opening of event will include a keynote speech to be delivered by AGU President Dr Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al Ohaly, followed by speeches by CMMS Dean Dr Abdelhalim Deifalla and Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Dr Afif Ben Saleh.

The activities will include several lectures to be delivered by the first key speaker Department Chair of Biomedical Engineering in the University of Utah, USA, Dr David Grainger second key speaker Dean of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine in the National University of Malaysia, Malaysia, Dr Raja Affendi.

This year’s edition of the CMMS Research Day will discuss several current scientific topics, including those related to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and other genetic studies that deal with the mechanism of action of the immune system, and research papers that highlight other topics, such as the life of diabetes patients, organ donation and the effect of smoking on brain functions.

Additionally, the basic research deals with many other important topics, such as the impact of YouTube on raising the efficiency of medical education, and the challenges of remote medical education in the time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Scientific Research Day will also address other subjects, such as education at the Simulation and Medical Skills Centre at AGU, and the effect of the introductory discussion on the efficiency of medical interventions during medical simulation classes.

Meanwhile, the event’s organising committee confirmed that those interested in attending the online activity can register through the University’s official website www.agy.edu.bh.

It is worth noting that the Committee consists of  Associate Professor at the Family and Community Medicine Department Dr Ahmed Jaradat, Personnel Department Head Dr Ghada Al Buflasa and Professor at the Molecular Medicine Department Dr Khaled Gerish, under the supervision of the College’s Dean and Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.
