Ahli United Bank hosted a reception and a ‘Meet the Experts” evening for women clients of its private banking services. The all ladies event was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay and was attended by women entrepreneurs, professionals and investors from across the Bahraini society.
On hand to share insights on the latest developments in the UK’s real estate market was a UK team of advisors invited by the Bank especially for this occasion. UK attorneys Shaima Jillod and Sara Maccallum (both with Boodle Hatfield LLP) gave a useful overview of the legal process and practicalities involved in buying a house in London and outlined the key tax issues which need to be considered.
Clementine Malim, MENA Manager for Knight Frank Residential Research, provided an update on market trends and outlook. Company’s research, she said, indicates that London prices are now firmly on the up from a near flat year in 2017, reflecting what the company’s analysts see as a returning consumer confidence post the Brexit vote. Additionally, robust demand by the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sector was another positive contributing factor, with a number of global tech companies announcing plans to set up shop in London during the year. The UK market as a whole is projected to see a 14% growth over the span of the next 5 years, she said.
Naeema Haider, Senior Manager, Private Banking & Wealth Management, AUB, commented: “We are pleased to host this event which is first and foremost a privileged opportunity for us at AUB to meet and connect with our esteemed clients and recognise their trust and support over the years.
