Almoayyed International Group (AIG), one of the leading family owned business groups in the Kingdom announced that it has installed 20KWh Solar Energy Systems at its headquarters compound in Ma’ameer as part of the company’s “Go-Green” initiatives.
The switch to solar power is a part of the group’s “Power Strategy”, which is a four year plan to reduce reliance on the conventional power grid and utilize the abundance of solar power in the Kingdom. This is the first phase of our long planned initiatives for sustainable energy within the office space.
The 20KWh solar grid power generating system will meet the entire AIG compound’s lighting requirements. As the cost of such technologies becomes more effective, we will continue to increase the solar capacity within the compound to include computers, servers and air conditioners.
AIG will showcase the pilot project to its clients over the coming months and will hold an awareness roadshow for solar and renewable energy options that it offers within its portfolio of services.
This switch to a solar strategy distinguishes the company and makes it among the first in the community to do so. The solar panels are expected to produce 35921 KWh per year of the average lighting energy consumed by our operations. The solar system implemented in Almoayyed International Group avoids 25.0 tons of CO2 per annum which is a great initiative to reduce our carbon foot print.
AIG continuously implements new strategies for minimizing energy consumption for its physical office space by implementing LED lights in all office premises, taking advantage of natural light, switching off electronic equipment not in use and so on. Our team is also actively engaged in area recycling programmes for paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and metals. When retired from use, assets, office equipment and other items are either recycled through appropriate electronics programs or donated for use by other organisations.
After installing solar panels with LED lights, the group has reduced its lighting load to half and the initial investment for the solar system will be recovered in six years’ time period. Solar energy is considered to be the best option for commercial and residential use in our part of the world.
The 20KWh solar panel was commissioned by Almoayyed Trading & Contracting, an engineering division of AIG, has built its regional renown by delivering state-of-the art, comprehensive and value packed engineering solutions for a wide range of market verticals. Almoayyed Trading & Contracting’s team of engineers are professional certified to install, test, commission and maintain the solar systems in line with the industry standards and requirements.
