Al Riwaq Art Space announce the First artBahrain/THE NEST Annual Art Prize

Al Riwaq Space is proud to announce the first edition of artBahrain/The Nest Annual Art Prize under the patronage of H.E Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, founder of artBahrain non-profit art organization.

We would like to invite artists living and working in the region to submit proposals of their artwork, suitable for an outdoor installation, to be unveiled during The Nest 2015. We hope you will take this opportunity to set the standards for Bahraini art and design, by visually communicating your conception of the local identity and representing on a local platform. All proposals will be thoughtfully considered by our committee, and ten semi-finalists will be selected to move forward onto the next stage. The semi-finalists will have the opportunity to workshop their designs with the curatorial team at Al Riwaq Space, benefitting from our studio space and from professional guidance with choosing materials and resources for their work. Of the Semi-finalists, two winners will be selected to have their artworks displayed and exhibited at The Nest 2015 and receive cash prizes: the first place winner will receive a BD500 cash prize, a public exhibition of their artwork at The Nest and a competitive international residency. The Second Place winner will receive a BD250 cash prize and a public exhibition of their artwork at The Nest.

 We at Al Riwaq Art Space believe in supporting emerging artists and offering opportunities for the advancement of visual arts culture.  In our announcement of the art/Bahrain/THE NEST Annual Art Prize, we would encourage all artists to challenge themselves by taking advantage of this opportunity to gain visibility and professionalize their artistic practice in a safe space. We are anticipating work of a very high standard, and we look forward to receiving your proposals in due course!
