Alba sponsors the newly-formed Jr. NBA Manama League

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the Bahrain-based international aluminium smelter, underlined its commitment to team sports amongst the youth of the Kingdom by supporting as an Associate Partner, the ‘Jr. NBA Manama League’, a newly-formed club-based basketball league between the Manama Sports Club, Kingdom of Bahrain and the National Basketball Association (NBA), US.

The official signing ceremony was held on February 10, 2016 at Alba between the Chief Executive Officer Tim Murray and Samuel Vincent, Head Coach of Manama Basketball team, and internationally renowned ex-NBA player.

On the partnership with Jr. NBA Manama League, Alba CEO Tim Murray said:

“Alba is honoured to support the Jr. NBA Manama League – an offshoot of NBA, the finest basketball organisation in the world. We believe sports and the lessons of teamwork and competition play an instrumental role in the development of young people.

We are also thankful to have such a person as Sam Vincent spearheading such an important initiative.”

The Head Coach of Manama Basketball team, Samuel Vincent added:

“I would like to thank Alba for partnering with the Jr. NBA Manama League. Alba is one of the flagship organisations in Bahrain and also has a huge sports culture within the company.  Being able to have a positive impact on the youth of Bahrain is something we are very proud of and we could not ask for a better sponsor than Alba.”

The Jr. NBA Manama League is the first league of its kind in the Middle East and will be held for boys aged 12 to 15. The programme will be signing up players at the end of February with the league commencing games in early March.
