AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation launched a series of summer activities under its youth enrichment program ‘Ithra’ with over 74 students taking part in the activities running between July and August across three institutions; Kuwait Finance House (KFH), McDonalds and Gulf Petrochemical Company (GPIC).

Sixty five students took part in a three-week internship program at McDonalds, held across several branches. Students were involved in tasks aimed at building team working skills, working under pressure and time management. During the end of their training program, students took part in an examination where they have to develop a report about their training program at McDonalds, including training benefits, positive and negative aspects of the branches and ways to improve the service. The winning student was offered a full-time job at the main branch of McDonalds.

Meanwhile, ten students took part in a one-week training program at KFH aimed at instilling work ethics among the students by embedding them with the customer service department. Students were exposed to methodologies of dealing with customers, working under pressure, trust building and working within a team.

The program also included a site visit to the Gulf Petrochemical Company (GPIC). The visit allowed the students to fully understand the role of social responsibility in order to further instill the values of corporate citizenship and volunteering.

“Ithra” is a four-year program that aims to empower Bahraini youth to become proactive “community-minded” citizens with the ability to be play an active role in the society, work under pressure and adjust to different scenarios.
