Asia de Cuba, the internationally renowned restaurant, lounge and bar will be opening its doors in Bahrain this February. Located in the stylish new complex, Gallery 21, Asia de Cuba’s Chino-Latino flare is set to take guests on a culinary adventure.

Regarded as one of North America’s most iconic restaurant brands, Asia de Cuba Bahrain has been designed to blend a vibrant atmosphere with an innovative menu featuring its signature Chino-Latino plates.  At the helm of the kitchen is Asia de Cuba’s Cuban-born Executive Chef, Luis Pous, with his menu fusing Asian technique and ingredients with traditional Cuban food and culture.  Inspired by Havana’s famed Chinatown, ‘El Barrio Chino de la Habana’, the first Chinatown in the Americas, this cross-cultural merger has led to the creation of the unique style of food and flavors that define Asia de Cuba today.

Guests can look forward to a variety of creatively prepared dishes, each bursting with flavor  including  Ceviches like Red Snapper with Thai chili, red onion, cilantro and plantains, or Tuna with seared foie gras, orange, Asian pear and malanga chips; and  Small Plates like Shrimp Churros with sesame and coconut curry; braised beef short rib Ropa Vieja Spring Rolls with rocoto sweet & sour sauce; Chicken Chicharrones served either traditional or with honey soy glaze and the classic favourite, Asia de Cuba’s Tunapica Tartare with crispy wontons, Spanish olives, almonds, currants and avocado ceviche (a vegetarian version made with beets is also on offer).

The Chino-Latino restaurant also offers a spectrum of salads, which include Crispy Calamari with banana, cashews, chayote and fresh hearts of palm with an orange sesame vinaigrette, Fire & Ice Shrimp with Napa cabbage, cucumber, watermelon, sesame, crispy wontons and King Crab & Asian Pearwith toasted coriander vinaigrette, orange and ancho chili.

Asia de Cuba’s innovative Wok dishes include the signature Chino Latino, a mix of mojo roasted lamb, jasmine rice, bean sprouts, egg and edamame;Mojo Duck Confit with brown rice, orange, poached egg, Thai basil and chili; and Chili Rubbed Scallops with  black rice, black beans, roasted cauliflower and a Japanese aioli.  In addition, Chef Pous has also created delicious large plates or Platos Grandes including the renowned Barrio Chino Steak and the Cumin Roasted El Lambchon.

Asia de Cuba also features a wide variety of Chino-Latino inspired vegetarian dishes such as the Sweet Corn Fritters with togarashi, lime, and pimento mayo from our small plates, or Chinese Eggplant with fermented black bean, green chili, and tofu from the Wok section.

Asia de Cuba is recognized for its selection of handcrafted cocktails and non-alcoholic cleansers.  The cocktails, built on classic formulas, draw inspiration from Asia and Cuba and mirror the approachable and tropical nature of the food. Original Craft Cocktails include the Ditch Street, an explosion of white rum, smoked tequila, jalapeño honey, ginger and lime; and the Patong Palmer, a mix of Reposado tequila, Thai tea, Aperol, coconut milk and lemon. And of course, there are Cuba Libres and Mojitos made with in-house extracted sugarcane juice. The Cleansers each burst with flavours and unique mixes and include the Pepina Cooler with cucumber, pineapple and shiso; the Mariposa Rosa, a blend of hibiscus, raspberry and watermelon, and the Coco Drilo with avocado, coconut milk and agave.

Known for its chic and stylish interiors, Asia de Cuba Bahrain is set to create an atmosphere of unparalled high energy, vibrance and sophistication, transporting guests on a journey of Latin wanderlust. The space will play on the senses with its living tropical wall and Washingtonia palm trees, further complimented by decadent bronze life-size statues and Art Deco finishings. Each evening diners can be immersed in Asia de Cuba’s live music or DJ showcases with performances taking place on the mezzanine balcony overlooking the restaurant.

Open daily from 12pm, Asia de Cuba, the Chino-Latino institution will be a further haven to Bahrain’s already emerging dining and nightlife scene.
