Bahrain Airport Company CEO praises progress of upcoming Fuel Farm Complex

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah paid an inspection visit to Bahrain International Airport’s (BIA) upcoming Fuel Farm Complex to discuss its readiness and preparations to start operation with the project team. Upon completion, the facility will position Bahrain as one of the most modern aviation fuel services hub in the region and contribute to fuel sustainable economic growth and provide paradigm shift for the Kingdom 2030 vision and beyond.

During the visit, Mr. Al Binfalah was briefed by Engineer Abdul Majeed AlQassab, BJFCO Project Manager & BJFCO Board Director, on the latest project milestones and safety measures to ensure the fuel farm meets highest international standards. He praised the progress of the project, which is now in its final stages and undergoing a series of testing and commissioning to key systems ahead of the start of operations.

Mr. Al Binfalah said: “The Fuel Farm testing and commissioning are progressing as planned and will help to identify any areas for improvement ahead of the facility’s start of operations. We are pleased with the progress to date and commend the hard work that has gone into bringing this landmark project to its advanced stage. Our priority is to ensure that the start of operations will proceed safely and effectively as per the plans.”

He added: “The Fuel Farm is a vital component of the Airport Modernization Program that will add value for airline operators by streamlining the aviation fuel supply, operation, and maintenance process at BIA. It will also enhance the nation’s logistics, aviation, and oil & gas sectors and contribute to the development of a more diversified and sustainable economy, in line with the Economic Vision 2030.”

The buildup full capacity is 30000 cubic meters, the complex area of 77,000 sqm, also covers dedicated operational and services buildings. It is equipped with state-of-the-art safety and security features and the latest aviation product handling technologies. It will supply aircraft with fuel through a dedicated hydrant network covering all BIA expanded operational bays. The new fueling facilities will meet future challenges by improving every facet of the organization in a fiercely uncompromising operating environment which inspires Kingdom vision to drive Bahrain as a regional hub fueling services.

The e complex is being developed by Bahrain Airport Jet Fuel Company (BJFCO), a joint venture between Bahrain Airport Company and The Oil and Gas Holding Company (Nogaholding). BJFCO was formed in 2016 with the goal of restructuring the aviation fuel sector in the Kingdom and constructing and managing the fuel farm complex within the vicinity of BIA, as per directives from Bahrain’s leadership.
