Assistant Foreign Minister Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, took part in the 15th meeting of the Arab Ministerial Quartet Committee on the follow-up on the crisis with Iran.
The Committee members include the United Arab Emirates (chairmanship), the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Arab Republic of Egypt, in addition to the Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The meeting was held on the sideline of the meetings of the 155th Ordinary Session of Arab League Council at the Ministerial Level.
The Committee discussed developments in the crisis with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the course of Arab relations with Iran and ways to deal with Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries.
It noted that security and development cannot be achieved for our people, as long as collective steps are not taken to confront the Iranian threat, which aims to demolish, sabotage and destabilize the region.
The Kingdom of Bahrain submitted to the committee a report on Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain, and the Ministerial Committee issued a statement condemning the unacceptable statements of the Secretary-General of the terrorist Hezbollah against the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Yemen, which constitutes a blatant interference in their internal affairs.
It stressedd that this terrorist party represents a major source of tension that should be deterred and confronted along with those who support it.
The committee affirmed its absolute rejection of any offence to symbols and leaderships, and called on the Lebanese government to condemn the blatant statements and interference by one of its basic components, within the framework of the commitment to the brotherly relations linking the Arab countries with the Lebanese Republic.
The committee welcomed the decision which was taken by Germany and Kosovo to designate the Lebanese Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
In addition, the Committee denounced and condemned the constant Iranian interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain in all forms, and Iran’s support for terrorism through training and harbouring terrorists.
“The contradicts with the principle of good neighbourliness, respect for the sovereignty and independence of states and non-interference in their internal affairs in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law” said the committee, affirming its support for every measure taken by Bahrain to preserve its security and stability.
It also welcomed the Kingdom of Bahrain hosting of the work of the International Conference on Maritime and Air Navigation Security on October 21-22, 2019, in which more than 60 countries has participated.
It confirmedthe role of the Kingdom of Bahrain in establishing regional security and stability and confronting the risks of Iranian practices that pose a great threat to maritime and air navigation in the region.
The Committee condemned Iran’s continued support for terrorist acts in the Arab countries, its development of ballistic missiles and supplying it to Houthis, and the continued launching of Iranian-made ballistic missiles from Yemeni territory against vital and civilian targets in Saudi Arabia.
It also stressed the need for Iran to implement the Security Council Resolution No. 2231 (2015) with regard to its missile program, and the need to implement an effective mechanism to verify the implementation of the agreement, and re-impose sanctions in an effective manner in case Iran violates its obligations under the agreement, as well as the importance of Iran’s adherence to all nuclear safety charters and taking into account the region’s environmental problems.
The Ministerial Committee affirmed its condemnation of the provocative visits and statements of Iranian officials towards the three occupied UAE islands (Greater Tunb – Lesser Tunb – and Abu Musa).
