Bahrain attends panel discussion on tourism

Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Alzayani today attended the World Travel Market (WTM) forum, which was held remotely via video-conference.

The virtual seminar was attended online by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) Chief Executive Officer Dr Nasser Ali Yousif and Acting Director for Tourism Marketing and Promotion Dr. Ali Hassan Foladh.

The minister also took part in the online panel discussion session which brought together UAE Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Minister Responsible for Tourism Dr. Ahmad bin Abdulla Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi. and Israeli Minister of Tourism Orit Farkash Hacohen.

The panel session which was held under the theme “Road to Peace in the Middle East”, focused on chartering a roadmap for tourism cooperation and opportunities in the sector, as well as the role of tourism in supporting the peace process.

The forum is the first of its kind in which the ministers responsible for tourism meet after the signing of the Abraham Accords  and the Declaration in Support to Peace in mid-September between the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel.

Alzayani praised the comprehensive initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote interfaith coexistence and tolerance.

“This diversity and tolerance has given the Kingdom of Bahrain a unique hospitality mark that distinguishes it from the rest of the region”, he said, adding that he expects agreements to yield positive results after the Covid-19 pandemic and benefit the region as a whole.
