Bahrain Heritage Festival opens

The 27th Heritage Festival has opened at Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al-Fateh Fort in Riffa, under the theme “Arabian breed horses”.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa assigned His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President to open the 2019 edition. Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) is organising the annual festival, scheduled to conclude on the 3rd of May.

HH  Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa was received on arrival by Southern Governor HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Basket ball Association (BBA) Chairman HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al-Khalifa, Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa and other officials.

HH  Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa toured the main tent which showcased artifacts and historic photos. The festival also features photos of the Royal Stables Horses, taken by Shaikha Hanan bint Hassan Al-Khalifa, in addition to artworks presented by Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa and Shaikha Mariam bint Abdulrahman Al-Khalifa. He also attended a traditional musical show stage by a local Bahraini band.

HH  Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa viewed a big painting showcasing HM the King riding a horse. BACA President presented him with a commemorative memento embodying the heritage festival logo represented by palm palm.  HH  Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa commended BACA efforts to organized the annual festival, which showcases Bahrain’s deep-rooted heritage down generations.

He commended BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa for his dedicated efforts to revive Bahrain’s longstanding heritage which is deeply engraved in national history.

He stressed the importance of the festival logo which, he said, reflects Bahrain’s keen interest in promoting pure Arabian breed, being an integral part of national identity which was cemented by Bahrain’s rulers down the eras.

He paid tribute to HM the King for his keenness on preserving pure Bahraini breed through the royal stables, hailing the outstanding organization of the festival which ensured the success of the event.

BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa paid tribute to HM the King for supporting the annual festival which highlights Bahrain’s heritage, stressing the importance of the 2019 which underscores the central importance of pure breed in national identity and heritage.
