The Bahrain International Airshow’s 2016 (BIAS) success as a major business event was confirmed today following the announcement of a new record in total value deals signed during the past three days. The announcement was made during a press conference held on behalf of the Supreme Organising Committee of BIAS which is chaired by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of BIAS, His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.

His Excellency the Minister said, “We have reached a record number of deals at BIAS 2016, totalling USD 9 billion, which is three times higher than the number reached at the previous edition. During BIAS 2016, we welcomed 139 companies, which represents 60% growth since the inception of the show in 2010.  In addition, 92 delegations participated, including 59 civil and 33 military, representing 34 countries. The exhibition hall was 47% larger than BIAS 2014, and we hope to increase this again for the next show.  We also have around 100 aircraft on display,” he said.

His Excellency further added “The total deals signed during the fourth edition is a reflection of the event’s success and growth prospects which we have seen over the years in the total number of visitors, delegations, companies, and countries’ representation. With each edition of the show, we continue to see new participation as well as returning participants which include some of the biggest names in the aviation industry worldwide. We are delighted to see the participants choosing BIAS to make their announcements and conduct their business and we look forward to creating further new opportunities in the next edition.”

It was also announced that due to the large growth of the show, the dates of Bahrain International Airshow 2018 have been moved by ten months to November 14-16, 2018.
