Bahrain Hockey, the official governing body for field hockey in the Kingdom of Bahrain recognized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee, will launch its first official Bahrain National Hockey League in April. The league is the first consolidated organized league aimed at introducing regular field hockey events for hockey teams based in the Kingdom.
The league will be spread across 5 weeks from April 21st to June 2nd and is open to all Bahrain based senior teams. The league venue will be St Christopher’s Senior School in Isa Town. Registration fee is BD 100 per team. The format of the league will be a six a side played under the guidelines and regulations of theBahrain Hockey Technical Committee.The league is open to a maximum of 6 teams and last date for team registration is April 19th.
Saleem Elias, Bahrain Hockey President said ‘ We are very happy to conduct this event as we are focused on promoting hockey and having increased participation from players on the island among all age groups. The league is our first major event in 2017 following which we will roll out our plan for a very busy year of hockey. The league announcement follows a major milestone for Bahrain Hockey with the Kingdom’sdebut at the Asian Hockey Congress on March 29th which was hosted by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) and Oman Hockey Association in Muscat, Oman where Bahrain Hockey was awarded the Best Promising Member by Mr. TayyabIkram, CEO (AHF) to Mr. Elias.
