Bahrain participates in Sustainability and Government Work Forum

The Council of Representatives participated in the Sustainability and Government Work Forum organized by the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) of the League of Arab States.

The forum aimed at promoting sustainability in government work by strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, and exchanging expertise between governments to improve their performance in sustainable development sector.

It discussed innovative sustainable policies, the importance of the green economy as a strategic priority for Arab governments, and the readiness of Arab governments for a sustainable future.

The council was represented by members of the Arab Parliament Dr. Hisham Ahmed Al Ashiri, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, and Mamdouh Abbas Al Saleh, Chairman of the Services Committee.

Al Ashiri affirmed Bahrain’s readiness to achieve sustainability, confront climate change and associated economic and social challenges, and explore future sectors that achieve contributions to sustainable development by defining proactive climate policies, visions and actions.

He added that governments play a decisive role in facing climate change, as they can adopt policies and strategies aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future, indicating that the Arab region is one of the most affected regions in the world by climate change.

Al Saleh affirmed that the world is facing concerns about the green economy and its priority in various international and regional forums, especially United Nations and its specialized bodies.

He stressed that Bahrain is continuing to follow policies and initiatives that support the promotion of climate action, and strategies aimed at enhancing sustainable environment future.
