Bahrain to host first-ever International Horserace

Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club’s Executive Director, Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa, announced that Bahrain will be officially organising its first-ever international horserace.

This high-profile event is scheduled to be held on November 22 at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club in Sakhir, with the participation of various owners, trainers and horses from around the world.

The announcement came during Shaikh Salman bin Rashid’s media interviews on the sidelines of the prestigious Bahrain Trophy horserace, held at Newmarket, in the United Kingdom.

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid affirmed that hosting an international horserace for the very first time in Bahrain is considered an unprecedented achievement in the history of Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club. It can be of great benefit to the sport and to the Kingdom of Bahrain as a whole, as it highlights the country’s excellent standing in this field.

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid said that organising such an international race is within the plans and goals of Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club’s High Committee, which aims to further contribute to the economic, tourism and sporting sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He added that this is part of Bahrain’s future direction in diversifying its organisation of top events and international competitions, pointing out that such races are a major attraction for the global sporting community and international media, which would shine the global spotlight on the Kingdom of Bahrain.

While they aim to continue developing the sport in Bahrain, they also wish to highlight the Kingdom on the global sporting map. He added that there are many ideas for the enhancement of this race in the coming years, and they will be based on the evaluation of this first highly anticipated event.

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid revealed in his interviews the club’s preparations for the race. He said that all is being done at the highest level in order to create the best conditions for it to succeed in all aspects.

He said that the race will be over 2,000 meters, with a total cash prize of 200,000. It will be open to various owners and trainers from around the world, and allocated for horses rated 95 and above.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Salman bin Rashid met with a group of racehorse owners and trainers from around the world, while in Newmarket, as part of Bahrain’s promotional campaign to host its first International race.

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid discussed all aspects related to Bahrain’s big announcement of organising the Kingdom’s first international horserace.

He expressed his sincerest thanks and appreciation for the interaction and praise received for Bahrain’s hosting of this event. The warm reception has come from throughout the horseracing community, including many of the most influential owners and trainers.

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid considers this to be added motivation for Bahrain to work doubly hard to ensure the success of this event. He pointed out that Bahrain seeks to help in the development of horseracing locally and abroad through such international races.

He stressed the keenness of Bahrain to provide the very best organisation for this international horserace.
