Bahraini Athlete Salwa Eid Naser Wins Gold Medal

Bahrain’s athlete sprinter, Salwa Eid Naser, has made history after winning the gold medal of the women’s 400-metre race at the World Athletics Championship, becoming the first Asian athlete to have done so.

Salwa, 21, clocked 48.14 seconds, the fastest time since 1985 and the third fastest in the history of the same race.

Salwa beat Olympic champion, the Bahamian, Shanuae Miller-Uibo, who clocked 48.37 seconds, and Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, who clocked 49.47 seconds.

Salwa had also won her 400m races in the Diamond League meets in Shanghai, Rome, Rabat and Lausanne in July 2019.
