Bahrain’s efforts to empower women praised on International Women’s Day

Government Ministers and Chairpersons praise His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) on International Women’s Day for Bahrain’s continuous support and initiatives that empower women.

Council of Representatives

The Council of Representatives congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the progress achieved by Bahraini women and on their prominent leadership in light of the comprehensive development process launched by HM the King.

In a statement marking International Women’s Day, the Council also congratulated His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on supporting and empowering women, and on strengthening the principle of equal opportunities through an inclusive national vision, Team Bahrain, that boosts opportunities and tackles challenges.

The Council expressed deep gratitude for the support and directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Wife and President of the Supreme Council for Women, that helped elevate the status of Bahraini women internationally.

Equal Opportunities Committee

Foreign Ministry, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Committee and Member of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has set an example for the advancement of women at all levels thanks to the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

She paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and SCW President for their support.   

Council of Representatives Speaker

Representatives Council Speaker, Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, extended sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the International Women’s Day which is observed on March 8. She lauded the achievements brought about for Bahraini women in various fields thanks to the royal support and the comprehensive development march.

The Representatives Council Speaker expressed utmost thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the government’s efforts to ensure the advancement of Bahraini women. She also extended heartfelt congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), commending the key role played by SCW in facing the coronavirus pandemic.

Labour and Social Development Ministry

Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan extended sincere congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), on the occasion, praising her varied and rich efforts and initiatives which enabled Bahraini women to attain numerous gains, and strengthened the kingdom’s status in empowering women and preserving their rights, as well as consolidating equal opportunities.

The minister lauded HRH Princess Sabeeka’s humanitarian directives during the COVID-19 through the launch of the “Together for the Safety of Bahrain” campaign aimed at delivering the necessary help for the families of Bahraini women working at the frontlines, as well as paying women’s unpaid fines.

Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society

Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society has congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on International Women’s Day.

The society also congratulated Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, on the special occasion.

Congratulations were extended to Her Highness Shaikha Thajiba bint Salman Al Khalifa, Honorary President of the Society. The society paid tribute to Bahraini women who, thanks to the tremendous support of Bahrain’s leadership and through their competence and efforts, have elevated their status and reached advanced levels.

Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has extended congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) On the International Women’s Day, celebrated on 8th March every year, voicing pride in the fundamental role of Bahraini women in the development march of the Kingdom, and their significant contribution at the economic, political, and social front.

Citing this year’s slogan “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”, the chamber lauded women on their role in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, and commended the efforts of Bahraini women as an inseparable part of Team Bahrain.
