The Embassy of Bangladesh in Bahrain successfully concluded the three-day “Bangladesh Festival 2025” at Dana Mall on January 11, 2025, following its inauguration on January 9. The festival, held in collaboration with LuLu Hypermarket and mall authorities, marked the Golden Jubilee of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Bahrain and aligned with Bangladesh’s nationwide “Festival of Youth.”

The event drew a significant number of high-ranking Bahraini government officials, heads and representatives from international organizations, ambassadors, and other senior diplomats. H.E. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ali Al Khalifa, Acting Undersecretary for Political Affairs & Director General of Bilateral Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, graced the grand opening ceremony as the guest of honor. Other notable attendees included H.E. Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic & Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and H.E. Mr. Nibras Mohammed Talib, Chief Executive Officer of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.

The festival offered visitors a comprehensive glimpse into Bangladesh’s rich heritage and diversity. Highlights included the unveiling of a photography book showcasing the country’s landscapes and cultural landmarks, captivating cultural performances, a photography exhibition, a diverse selection of Bangladeshi cuisine, live cooking demonstrations of traditional sweets, and various stalls displaying modern and traditional Bangladeshi items, such as handicrafts, textiles, food products, and other unique items. Videos showcasing Bangladesh’s scenic beauty and development also played throughout the festival.
During the opening ceremony, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy, Mr. A.K.M. Mohiuddin Kayes, emphasized the festival’s significance in celebrating Bangladesh’s youth and cultural diversity. He highlighted the vibrant colours, sounds, and palates of Bangladesh through cultural performances, photography exhibitions, and authentic cuisine. Mr. Kayes also expressed gratitude to LuLu Hypermarket and the Embassy team for their contributions to the festival’s success, expressing hope for stronger ties between the two nations.

Mr. Mohamed Kaleem Ulla, Regional Director of LuLu Group International, conveyed LuLu Hypermarket’s enthusiasm for the collaboration and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange. He celebrated the opportunity to showcase Bangladesh’s diverse flavours and vibrant culture to the Bahraini public.
H.E. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ali Al Khalifa, the guest of honor, underscored the strong and enduring friendship between Bahrain and Bangladesh and commended the Embassy’s efforts in organizing the festival as a valuable platform for enhancing cultural understanding and strengthening bilateral ties.
The closing ceremony saw the attendance of long-time friends of the Embassy, Mr. Abdulla Abdulrahman Baqer and Mr. Mahdi Al Jalawi. The festival concluded with a nearly two-hour cultural segment featuring dance performances, live singing, and the playing of traditional Bangladeshi musical instruments.
The festival successfully showcased Bangladesh’s rich culture, cuisine, scenic beauty, and youth to visitors of Dana Mall. The evening cultural segments, lasting one to two hours, featuring live singing, dancing, and traditional music, drew large crowds throughout the three days.
