Batelco received a recognition award for its Platinum Sponsorship of the Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship 2018, which was held under the patronage of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. Batelco was also the official Telecom Partner of the event.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa presented the recognition award to Batelco Chairman, Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, who expressed Batelco’s pleasure in being the platinum sponsor and official telecom partner for this internationally recognized sport, which consists of a 1.9km Swim, 90km Bike ride and 21.1km run.
Ironman 70.3 Bahrain is a celebration of triathlon and Middle Eastern culture combining the challenge of competition alongside family oriented side events. Boosted by its previous success, the event has grown in popularity, this year attracting over 3000 triathletes from 84 countries, which indicates the event’s prominence on the international triathlon calendar.
On this occasion, Batelco Chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa commented, “The 2018 event marks the fourth edition in the Kingdom of Bahrain, following previous years which witnessed huge regional and international participation, where professional athletes and other fans of challenging and high-performance sports have been eager to participate. The remarkable progress in the Kingdom’s sports sector goes back to the personal attention by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa towards youth and sports initiatives.
The success of the event reflects the growth of the triathlon as a popular sport amongst all ages and genders.
