Batelco, the leading digital solutions provider in the Kingdom of Bahrain, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the British University of Bahrain (BUB) to mark the inauguration of a strategic partnership between the two organisations. Batelco is the first organisation in Bahrain to enter into a MoU with the new university. The signing ceremony took place at the British University of Bahrain premises in the presence of His Royal Highness The Duke of York and His Excellency Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, the Minister of Education, official dignitaries, academics and guests.
The MoU was signed by Batelco General Manager Talent Development & Culture Ebru Pilav, on behalf of Mohamed Bubashait, and Professor Keith Sharp, the Vice President of the British University of Bahrain, during the inauguration ceremony of the British University of Bahrain, a partner of The University of Salford in Manchester.
Commenting on this occasion, Batelco Bahrain CEO Mohamed Bubashait said, “Batelco is delighted to enter into this agreement with BUB as it demonstrates Batelco’s commitment towards supporting education in general and higher education in particular in the Kingdom of Bahrain. We believe this strategic partnership is beneficial for both Batelco and the BUB.”
He added, “This Partnership represents the mutual interest between both organisations for collaborative research and development opportunities, and additionally training and capacity building activities for the British University of Bahrain and Batelco to benefit from”.
Commenting on the partnership Professor Sharp said, “We are delighted to be working with Batelco, the leading communications company in Bahrain. Fundamental to BUB’s mission is to work as closely with industry as possible to ensure that our students benefit from learning in real world environments and gain the skills which employers in Bahrain and the region need. Our partnership with Batelco is a clear example of this kind of collaboration.”
The BUB is a partner of The University of Salford, Manchester, and will bring Salford’s globally recognised academic programmes to Bahrain. For the first time Bahraini students will be able to study for British Degrees in such areas as Engineering and Information and Communications Technology as well as traditional business specialties.
As part of the MoU, Batelco will be the exclusive sponsor of the British University of Bahrain’s ICT College. The MoU will also incorporate collaborative research and development opportunities, training and capacity building activities and opportunities for BUB and Batelco to benefit from in the areas of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and student experiences.
