BCICAI conference emphasises hot-button corporate topics along with personal financial security issues

  • Seventeen speakers, panellists to address 400 delegates

The Bahrain Chapter of the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of India will hold their 9th Annual International Conference on December 1 and 2, 2017. The conference is expected to attract 400 delegates at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa under the patronage of Minister of Industry, Commerce & Tourism, H.E. Mr. Zayed Al Zayani.

The ninth edition of the conference has a well-planned roster of topics built around the theme, “Transforming Possibilities into Reality”.

The corporate topics include heavyweight speakers such as CA Richard Rekhy, former CEO, KPMG India and CA Suresh Senapaty, former CFO, Wipro Ltd who will speak on different aspects of corporate leadership; Sreejith Bhaskaran (Senior Manager) & Rohit Srivatsava (Manager) of BDO Consulting, who will speak on Information Security – Realities and NextGen Possibilities; CA Sandhya Sriram, Vice President – Finance, CBU, Wipro Ltd who will talk about brand-building; Sarit Bose, Director of Digital Transformation Services whose talk will be on fintech advances; CA Rajendra Kumar P, Member, Technical Advisory Group to WP 9 on Consumption Taxes, OECD, Paris will speak on ‘Cooperative Federalism – Lessons from India to the World’ and the CEO of AFS, Chandrasekhar shall speak on joining the Digital Economy.

In exploring entrepreneurship, the founder of the preventive healthcare and medical diagnostic chain, Thyrocare, A. Velumani will speak about the challenges of establishing a business and building its brand.

Dr. Pawan Agrawal, Motivational Speaker, formerly of Dabbawalas of Mumbai, will explore the successful work ethic of the city’s world-famous Six-Sigma lunch delivery system.

Personal wealth & well-being

On the personal finance front, the programme includes a Panel Discussion on “Wealth Creation” led by CA Anil Singhvi, well-known TV financial consultant and Markets Editor at the leading Hindi business and consumer news channel, CNBC Awaaz. The panelists include CA Navneet Munot, CIO, SBI Mutual Funds, Arun Thukral, MD & CEO, Axis Securities Limited and Shankar Sharma, CEO, First Global Stockbroking Pvt. Ltd.

The youngest person to qualify as a chartered accountant at age 19, Nischal Narayanan, will speak about developing literacy and the work of his literacy NGO, Nischal Foundation. Nischal’s feat got him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

UAE based expert Mohammed Maria shall address delegates about the need to make a clear and legally binding “WILL” in his talk on succession planning.

Former chartered accountant Varsha Shah who gave up a hugely successful corporate career to become a Happiness Coach and motivational speaker, will speak on setting happiness goals.

Networking opportunity

“The conference is our annual milestone event and is meticulously planned to represent the professional updates in the careers of chartered accountants and also personal finance and happiness hacks from a fascinating array of speakers,” said BCICAI Chairperson Uday Shanbhag, “On the professional front, CA Prafulla Chhajed, Central Council Member of the ICAI, Mr. Jamal Fakhro, Managing Partner, KPMG and Mr. Abbas Al Radhi, Chairman, BAA, Mr. Abbas Al Radhi, Chairman, BAA, Mr. Ali Maki, Assistant undersecretary of commercial Registration, MOIC, Mr. Yousif Hassan, Director, Retail Banking Supervision directorate, CBB, Bahrain” shall speak at the inauguration. Ambassador of India to Bahrain, H. E. Alok Kumar Sinha shall also speak at the event.

Attendance at the conference counts as part of the recognised continued professional education credits recognised by the ICAI – it carries 12+ hours CPE training credits for CAs. It is open to non-CAs too, who will find it very interesting as a gateway to understanding corporate trends – delegate fee is just BD 50 per person and includes the two days lunch networking opportunities as well,” Vice-Chairperson of BCICAI, S.
