BRCS celebrates World Blood Donor Day with Blood Bank and “Arad Charity Community”

The General Secretary of Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS), Dr. Fawzi Abdullah Amin, stressed the keenness of the Society, under the guidance of the Chairman HE Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, to participate actively in various humanitarian and volunteer activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

During blood donor day campaign, held by Arad village charity society in cooperation with Blood Bank and BRCS, Dr. Amin said that Blood donation is a voluntary act of humanity that embodies the highest meaning of giving. This donation is reflected in the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, namely, humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. He praised the participation of board directors’ members at this event.

“Through my experience as a doctor, there are some urgent surgeries may stop because of the lack of blood for the patient, so we always emphasize that the initiative to donate blood saves the lives of a patient may be a friend or a relative or a neighbor, a human being first and foremost.” Said Dr. Amin.

Dr. Amin stated that the principle of impartiality and neutrality is to donate blood, since the donor does not know where the blood will go. It is a donation to every person in need, regardless of religion, race, gender and nationality. This humanitarian event reflects the principle of universality and unity, for its being organized in partnership with a civil society (BRCS), a charity Society “Arad Community Association”, and a government body “Blood Bank of the Ministry of Health.”

Dr. Amin praised and thanked blood donors to take part in this humanitarian initiative. He also hailed the key role played by Blood Bank. “Yes, we organize blood donation campaigns from time to time, but the blood bank works daily to provide blood continuously to all hospitals. Thanks to the Ministry of Health and the Blood Bank for their great performance in this field.” Concluded Dr. Amin.
