BTEA Holds ‘Cruise Committee Meeting’

In line with its efforts to develop the Kingdom’s cruise sector, the Cruise Sector Committee held its periodical meeting at the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) on Tuesday 29th May 2018. The meeting aimed to discuss methods of strengthening cooperation between all concerned parties with an aim to further develop the sector and support the national economy.

The meeting, headed by the Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, was attended by stakeholders in the cruise industry including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, Ports and Maritime Affairs, Customs Affairs and the Bahrain Economic Development Board. Other participating stakeholders also include APM Terminals, Inchcape Shipping Services and the General Directorate of Nationality Passports and Residence Affairs.

“Developing the cruise sector in Bahrain will boost tourism and further position the Kingdom as a destination for cruise ships. We appreciate the joint efforts from all governmental entities and cruise ship operators who are facilitating the passengers journey through the Khalifa Bin Salman port,” said the CEO of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.

BTEA’s long term strategy aims to further develop the Kingdom’s tourism sector under the slogan of ‘Ours.Yours.’, which was launched by the Authority in cooperation with the Economic Development Board. The aim of the tourism strategy is to increase the number of visitors coming to the Kingdom and the sector’s overall contribution to the economy. The strategy focuses on four pillars ‘awareness, attraction, access and accommodation.’ A key integral component of the strategy is to develop the sea ports in the Kingdom in order to further
