BTEA Launches the Third Edition of the ‘Sea Festival’ in Bahrain

The Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa inaugurated the third edition of the ‘Sea Festival’.

The event, held near Bahrain Financial Harbour, was attended by the President of the Arab Tourism Organization, Dr. Bandar bin Fahd Al-Fuhaid, the Undersecretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikwh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa in addition to representatives from BTEA, tourism sector and the media.

Since its conception, the festival has aimed to showcase the Kingdom’s rich link to the sea tying it to several Bahraini sea related traditions and cultural activities by using the latest technologies, in addition to showcasing the related initiatives launched by BTEA to energize the tourism sector in Bahrain.

“We appreciate the efforts made by BTEA to organize events that help in preserving and safeguarding Bahrain’s history and link to the sea, while implementing the latest technologies and introducing more exciting initiatives year after year to enhance the tourism industry,” said the President of Arab Tourism Organization, Dr. Bandar bin Fahd Al-Fuhaid.

The CEO of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, further commented on the event, stating that: “The Festival has become one the most anticipated events on the Kingdom’s calendar. Much like the rest of BTEA’s events, it aims to position Bahrain as a leading family destination and double the tourism sector’s contribution in the National GDP.”

“Previous editions of the festival have been very popular with visitors from Bahrain and abroad, due to the variety of events at the festival, which are suitable for all ages. We are continuously adding new activities to attract even more visitors,”
he added.

The Festival features a number of activities, including water taxi, boat tours inside Bahrain Bay, in addition to water activities and sports like kayaking, paddling, rowing races and the Russian Jetski Show.

The Festival will also feature a museum, and a Fisherman Village which will have handicrafts and pearl merchant booths. Visitors will be able to enjoy food from over 20 vendors, and watch live performances by traditional bands participating in the event.

The ‘Sea Festival’ will run every day from 25th of October to the 3rd of November from 4:00 pm to 10:00pm Saturday to Thursday and from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Friday. The price of the tickets is BD 2 per person and free for children under the age of 4.
