ASAR – Al Ruwayeh & Partners (ASAR), one of the region’s top tier firms, is hosting a series of breakfast meetings gathering senior executives and professionals from within the Kingdom and overseas discussing topics of common interest for lawyers and business persons alike. The first breakfast meeting was held in Manama on April 26, 2016 and focused on corporate governance while the second meeting has been held on May 31, 2016 focusing on securitizations. The breakfast sessions, organized by Simone Del Nevo, Senior Associate at ASAR, saw the participation of ASAR’s lawyers from Kuwait and Bahrain including Partners Ezekiel Tuma and John Cunha and Steven Brown, Managing Attorney of the Bahrain office. Both sessions stimulated a fruitful discussion and were received with enthusiasm by the participants. More sessions are due to come in the course of the year.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Ezekiel Tuma said: “Our goal through this initiative is to create a venue for industry leaders to get together to discuss legal developments and issues from a practical business perspective and to brainstorm innovative ideas as to how to benefit their respective organizations and, ultimately, the Kingdom of Bahrain as a whole. Corporate governance, the object of our first breakfast meeting, is a critical issue for regional organizations, whether they are in a start-up or in a mature phase, as they approach local and international capital markets for funding of their business plans and this trend has been heightened by the current economic cycle which is putting more and more pressure on the balance sheets of companies. We identified securitization as the main theme of our second meeting as we believe that the current economic climate will prompt several players to consider securitization of balance sheet assets to boost overall financial efficiency and performance. We are very grateful to our clients and friends for sharing with us their valuable opinions and points of view during these breakfast meetings and we look forward to upcoming sessions”.
