Bahrain launches Mawaeed App
Bahrain has taken a significant step towards digital transformation with the official launch of the National Appointment System and its associated mobile app, Mawaeed. This innovative platform, which emerged as a winning project from the second edition of the Government Innovation Competition, Fikra, aims to streamline the appointment booking process for services requiring in-person attendance at government service centers.

The Mawaeed app is a unified national system designed to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of government services. It aligns with the directives of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and supports the government’s vision for digital transformation as outlined in the Government Plan 2023–2026. This initiative also implements the decisions of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology, chaired by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
Developed by the Interior Minister and the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), Mawaeed was initially piloted as a beta version last November through the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Urban Planning and Development Authority. Since then, it has expanded to include 18 new government centres from six additional entities, bringing the total number of participating entities to nine. These include the ministries of Labour, Social Development, Housing and Urban Planning, Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, the Public Prosecution, and the Royal Humanitarian Foundation.
The app offers several key features, including support in both Arabic and English, the ability to access a list of government entities and services for seamless appointment booking and management from any location at any time, and notifications for appointment confirmations and reminders. Users can also provide instant feedback for evaluation through the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
To use the Mawaeed app, users need to register using their Bahrain ID numbers (for citizens and residents), passport numbers (for non-residents), or GCC ID (for GCC nationals). The app can be downloaded from the eGovernment App Store at bahrain.bh/apps.
Currently, Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry has integrated six government service centres into the National Appointment System, including the Northern Area Municipality Customer Services Centres in Hamad Town, Aali, and Budaiya, the Muharraq Municipality Customer Services Centre, the Capital Municipality Customer Services Centre, and the Southern Area Municipality Customer Services Centre. Additionally, four centres are enrolled under the Social Development Ministry, including the Muharraq Social Centre, Abdulla Bin Yousif Fakhro Social Development Centre, Mubarak bin Jassim Kanoo Social Centre, and Hamad Town Social Development Centre. The system also includes the Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Waqf Ministry’s Minors Affairs and Funds Service Centre, the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry’s Customer Services Centre, and the Royal Humanitarian Foundation Customer Services Centre.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Consular Legalisation Offices in Riffa and Diplomat Tower, the Labour Ministry’s Services Centre covering employment, training, receivables, and unemployment insurance claims and labour relations management services, and the Public Prosecution Litigants Service Centre have all joined the National Appointment System.
Mr Al Qaed noted that since its pilot launch in November 2023, the Mawaeed app has been downloaded over 9,679 times and received more than 50,000 booking requests.

The launch of the National Appointment System and Mawaeed app represents a significant advancement in Bahrain’s efforts to adopt new technologies and upgrade systems for increased efficiency. This initiative not only enhances the accessibility and quality of government services but also underscores Bahrain’s commitment to digital transformation and improved public service delivery.
