The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) secured a key exhibiting position at the internationally renowned Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair (21-24 June 2018) held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. This was DANAT’s first overseas industry show and came as part of DANAT’s efforts to expand into global markets, particularly in Asia, and promote Bahrain as a hub for gemmological excellence. DANAT was the only Bahrain based exhibitor at the show promoting its services and the Kingdom to a sophisticated global audience.

Throughout the show, DANAT’s expert gemmologists were offering complimentary consultations for pearl, gemstone and jewellery. DANAT also formally launched its new ‘Supreme Report’ and range of educational courses that specialise in pearl and gemstone studies. The courses have been developed to educate gemmology and jewellery enthusiasts as well as industry professionals.

DANAT was also promoting its onsite private bonded warehouse, the first of its kind licenced in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The bounded warehouse facility means that items entering Bahrain will come directly to DANAT’s premises for Customs clearance thus mitigating the typical Customs processing timescales. Items submitted via the bonded warehouse are also duty free. DANAT’s bonded warehouse should facilitate a smooth and secure client experience when submitting items for testing from overseas through courier services.

Commenting on the DANAT’s participation at the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth Scarratt, one of the world’s leading authorities on natural pearls, said “this is a truly exciting time in DANAT’s development; our growth over the period since inception, less than one year ago, has been truly spectacular and we have enjoyed interacting with the global community as it descended upon Hong Kong once again for this most important trade event”.

The Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair is an important event for the gemmological and jewellery community, with over 2,000 exhibitors and over 25,000 industry professionals in attendance. Participation in the show is expected to support DANAT’s objective of becoming the world’s preferred institute for third party pearl and gemstone verification services.
