He is young, dynamic with a dream mission of handholding the youth of Bahrain into the path of successful professional training and entrepreneurship, and service to society. Meet the entrepreneur, the motivational speaker, and the visionary Chairman of Bahrain CSR Society, Khalid Al Qoud.

Tell us briefly about yourself: where you were born and raised, any special childhood memory?

I was born in 1974 in the Kingdom of Bahrain. I belong to a beautiful family,  from whom I have learnt a lot. My grandfather has been a very significant mentor and guide in my life who had taken good care of me. He had taught me most of the things of life that I know. And one of my special childhood memory is to wake up at 5 am in the morning to be always with him in everything he did, starting from praying in the mosque till he got back to have his breakfast and then joining him at the Manama Souq.

What has been your educational and professional background?

I have a Bachelors degree from Arab University in Egypt. My profession is as a consultant in Public relations, Leadership, Business and Human Capital.

Was social work always a calling for you? Tell us how and when you got initiated into this.

It was back in 2002 through the Terryfox Marathon when I saw the contributions of many people and that made me realize that it is very important to pay back to the community.

Tell us briefly about the CSR society and the Toastmasters Club.

Bahrain Corporate Social Responsibility Society is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. CSR policy functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism, whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and international norms.

Bahrain Toastmasters Club is a quality-oriented, award winning toastmasters club established in 2002, the club holds many awards such as The President’s Distinguished Club for 9 years, Smedly Award for 6 years, beat the clock award and talk up toastmasters.

Bahrain Toastmasters Club is a registered club in Toastmasters International which started from a humble beginning in 1924 at the YMCA in Santa Ana, California, Toastmasters International has grown to become a world leader in helping people become more competent and comfortable in front of an audience. The nonprofit organization now has nearly 220,000 members in 11,300 clubs in 90 countries, offering a proven and enjoyable way to practice and hone communication and leadership skills.

Which Khalid Al Qoud do you relate more to: the professional or the social worker?

Definitely the social worker because without that I wouldn’t be a businessman.

What are the basic needs of the underprivileged people of Bahrain?

Well I’ll say that they have to be understood because  they have different needs so if we do not understand them, we cannot serve them right. We should also be good listeners to listen to them and their challenges in life.

How can an individual contribute to society beyond his professional work?

By being a good human being.

Any memorable incident as a youth mentor?

I always experience new things whenever I surround myself with the youth. Youth are great leaders. They just need to be understood and given the chance to prove their abilities.

Tell us about some initiatives by the CSR society?

We have designed a full yearly plan which includes various initiatives to help the community in different ways. Some of the initiatives that would be taken by us would include the Youth Leadership Program, Traffic and Road Hazard Awareness Campaign, Productive Families Exhibition, Special needs drawing competition exhibition, Garage sale for the needy families and The Bahrain CSR Award and Conference.

What is your message to the youth of Bahrain?

Never give up and believe in yourself.
