Diabetes Awareness Road Show at Al Hilal Hospital

Al Hilal Hospital and Bahrain Public Transport Company under the patronage of National Health Regulatory Authority in association with Ministry of Transportation organized The Inauguration and flag off ceremony. The ceremony was for a Road Show about Diabetes Awareness which is taking place for the first time in the history of The Kingdom of Bahrain. This initiative took place on 14th November which marks World’s Diabetes Day.

Al Hilal Hospital and Bahrain Public Transport Company under the patronage of National Health Regulatory Authority taking an exceptional initiative to spread the word about Diabetes and create awareness through a road show which is scheduled at different prominent landmarks in Bahrain starting from 15th Nov till 30th Nov. These road shows will provide a platform for the people to not just get awareness about diabetes but also a great opportunity to get consulted by Doctors in the bus and obtain mini comprehensive body checkup coupons. The team from Al Hilal hospital will be conducting screening for diabetes by checking blood sugar levels and blood pressure. The population at large will also get benefited by health talk by Doctors on topics related to healthy lifestyle, healthy eating habits, complication of diabetes etc.

The event was inaugurated and flagged off by Dr. Maha Al Kawari, Head of Health Facilities Regulation. Speaking at the inauguration Dr. Maha Al Kawari said, “It’s indeed commendable to see the efforts Al Hilal Hospital is taking to raise awareness about diabetes to all the residents of the kingdom. This way we will be directly able to improve the quality of life. NHRA is happy to be associated with such awareness initiatives”

Representing the Ministry of Transportation, Mr., Ali Hasan Ghuloom, Head of National Carrier Operations Monitoring said, “These efforts will help all the people of Bahrain by raising their awareness of Diabetes and will help reducing life threatening complications arising out of this disease”.

Dr. Sharath Chandran, Chief Executive Officer of Al Hilal Hospital said, “Al Hilal always priorities the thought of awareness to public on diseases as its major contribution to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The plan is to screen at least 5000 residents and educate the ones who have diabetes or are in the stage of pre-diabetes to ensure they have better quality of life”.

Mr. Asif Mohammad, Head of Business Development thanked the team from Bahrain Public Transport company for their ongoing support for such initiatives.
