Downtown Rotana hosted a Training program for the students

Downtown Rotana, the luxury five star hotel located in the heart of Manama, proudly invited the students of Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail (BIHR) for a half day program where 38 young inspiring students were able to experience Downtown Rotana’s fundamentals of hospitality.

The hotel staff created a customized program for the students including an introductory session to Downtown Rotana’s guidelines and standards followed by an on job training with practical sessions in various departments such as Food & Beverages, Kitchen, House Keeping and Front Office allowing the students to develop their hospitality. They were divided into 4 groups and each group had the opportunity to do the training with the four departments. Then, the students had their lunch buffet at the award winning all-day-dining restaurant, “Flavours on 2”. The main approach of the program was to drive BIHR students to apply their knowledge and experience in real operations.

Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Patrice Cornee, General Manager of Downtown Rotana stated: “Today’s dedicated program was designed especially for the students of BIHR and is one of many activities we planned to initiate our community outreach program at Downtown Rotana. This customized program is essential for the students to gain experience from the hospitality industry and will surely be one of many factors to open new opportunities for the students. It gives them the chance to learn from our highly experienced colleagues and apply their academic learning into practice”.

Mr. Nigel Viegas, Director of Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail (BIHR), explained “BIHR is committed to providing excellent education and training to the students by well experienced professionals. Developing the skills and knowledge of our students by practice provides solid evidence to future employers that they are valuable assets. We truly appreciate and would like to thank Downtown Rotana for inviting our students for a training program that will definitely be of great value to their learning journey and careers”.

BIHR is a private college committed to meeting the needs of the hospitality and tourism industry by providing highly trained individuals to deliver benchmark standards of managerial competence in hospitality management.
