Education Ministry marks Bahrain Sports Day

The Education Ministry today celebrated the fifth edition of the Sports Day, by implementing many sports activities and competitions while adhering to social distancing.

Officials, employees and school students participated massively in the events, which were held remotely.

In a statement marking the occasion, Education Minister, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, lauded the sports and youth achievements attained by Bahrainis at various competitions during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s prosperous era, and thanks to the interest of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in the youth and sports movement.

The minister praised the varied programmes and initiatives launched by the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), under the chairmanship of HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and National Security Advisor, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

He also hailed the on-going coordination between the Bahrain Olympic Committee, led by the First Deputy Chairman of the SCYS, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to develop school sports.

Dr. Al-Nuaimi stressed that the Education Ministry attaches special importance to the Bahrain Sports Day, adding that the celebration featured numerous activities and programmes, held remotely in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bahrain Sports Day is held annually, with the participation of social segments at public and private institutions. It aims to promote public health, through encouraging people to practise sport as a lifestyle.
