EWA deal on sustainable energy

Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza and Managing Partner of Smart Human Resources Management Company Sabah Almoayyed signed a memorandum of understanding between the Sustainable Energy Centre and the company to promote the concept of sustainable energy in the higher education and vocational training sector by encouraging creativity among the members of universities in the field of engineering, technology and business as well as professionals in the sector.

The minister said the agreement comes as part of a partnership of cooperation and emphasizes the commitment towards work to promote and implement sustainable energy policies and energy efficiency. It includes a capacity building programme aimed at providing a unique opportunity for Bahraini university students and professionals, including retirees, to upgrade their skills, motivate them to innovate and develop their career prospects in the field.

The programme is designed to train more than 120 Bahrainis every year by the company, a leader in the implementation of innovative solutions in the field of sustainable energy.

Ms. Almoayyed said the two sides will work together in a number of areas aimed at enabling the higher education sector in the field of sustainable energy, including encouraging and developing renewable energy projects in industry and entrepreneurship as well as organise training programmes that provide university students in engineering, science and business management with basic knowledge of sustainable energy.

It will also create a network that enables students participating in the programme to communicate with regional and international experts in the field of sustainable energy.
