Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and in collaboration with the SCW, VIVA Bahrain has extended a financial support to “Masaken Housing” within “Fereej VIVA” project, exceeding 150 thousand Bahraini Dinars.
The recently launched ‘Masaken Housing’ project in Allawzi area in Hamad Town comes as a result of a fruitful collaboration between SCW and Ministry of Housing aimed to benefit the fifth category, which according to resolution 909 for 2015 includes divorced women, widows, abandoned wives and single orphaned women.
The support VIVA Bahrain has extended to ‘Masaken Housing’ initiative marks the second phase of ‘Fereej VIVA’ held under the company’s corporate social responsibility ‘VIVA Jusoor’ and organised in partnership with Ministry of Housing. The initiative is dedicated to benefitting Bahraini women with low-incomes and reaches out to the wider Bahraini community of women living under challenging conditions.
Commenting on the initiative, Eng. Ulaiyan Al Wetaid, VIVA Bahrain CEO said, “Fereej VIVA has been one of our most fulfilling sustainable community initiatives, providing quality housing services for citizens with limited incomes. We recognize active participation from the private sector can contribute to the achievement of sustainable development of local community. We remain committed to responsible social-welfare practices that contribute to implementation of community-driven programmes at all levels.”
He added further, “Partnering with Supreme Council for Women has been an honour for us and through this initiative; we are delighted to reach out to more Bahraini women in need.”
The two-year sustainable community initiative, ‘Fereej VIVA’ project launched in 2015, has successfully benefitted a number of low-income families with furnished houses and apartments provided in partnership with Ministry of Housing in Muhurraq, Burhama, Isa Town and now in Hamad Town. The project continues to extend its efforts to support more local families in upcoming phases.
The ‘Fereej VIVA’ initiative runs in parallel to the royal vision to provide quality housing services for citizens with limited income. Beneficiaries are selected based on extensive internal studies by the Ministry of Housing on the applicant’s financial status.
