First Motors Sponsors Biggest Competition, Calisthenics World Cup 2016 in Bahrain

First Motors, the exclusive distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Kingdom of Bahrain, extends its congratulations to the World Calisthenics Organisation (WCO) for successfully organising the 2nd Edition of the Calisthenics World Cup 2016, which took place on the 2nd and 3rd of December, 2016 at the ART Rotana Amwaj Islands under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The Calisthenics World Cup is one of the biggest competitions in the world, and 50 athletes from 8 countries participated in the competition in Bahrain. Calisthenics is a form of exercise that consists of a variety of movements, often rhythmical, generally without using equipment or any apparatus.

Speaking about this competition, Mr. Ahsan Chishty, the General Manager of First Motors said: “On behalf of First Motors, I would like to congratulate the World Calisthenics Organisation for successfully hosting the Calisthenics World Cup 2016 at ART Rotana Amwaj Islands. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Malaysian team, who were the winners of this year’s competition and wish them continued success for the future.”

“It is an honour to have sponsored this World Cup, 2016 in Bahrain, where contestants from all over the world gathered to compete against each other. This World Cup is a competition that promotes a spirit of sportsmanship within the young athletes of Bahrain and having this take place on an international level motivates and encourages them to work on becoming fit. We are proud to have been able to support this great sporting event and achieve a positive brand image for both the tournament as well as for Hyundai vehicles in the Kingdom”, he added.

Each team had four main members and one reserve member in case of an injury to any of the other members. There were two rounds during the battle, the first of which, individuals from each team competed against each other for a total of 10 points in 4 minutes. There was a 10 minute break after which the entire team battled against the other team for 5 minutes, which was worth a maximum of 10 points.

The contestants also had to submit an online application video that was 5 minutes long, focussing first on each team member individually for one minute and subsequently as a team for another minute. A panel of judges then assessed each video application according to the requirements given and the shortlisted teams were notified accordingly.
