Dubai’s new ‘Policeman’ harnesses Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Smart Services technologies – and it’s coming to a street near you, soon!

Dubai Police will leverage this month’s Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (GISEC) and co-located Internet of Things Expo (IoTx) at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) to launch a ‘world’s first’ public service product that is poised to transform the day-to-day lives of the emirate’s residents and impact its millions of tourists.

The launch at GISEC and IoTx, which will run from May 21-23, will reveal a revolutionary product that harnesses the much-vaunted Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Smart Services technologies and which will become a common sight across the emirate in months and years to come.

“This global launch aligns with Dubai Police’s commitment to the Dubai Plan 2021 and our pivotal role in achieving the emirate’s smart city strategy,” said Brigadier-General Khalid Nasser Al Razzouqi, director-general of Smart Services, Dubai Police. “This world’s first technology will not only revolutionise the emirate’s police force, it will also provide an engaging, interactive and informative touchpoint between Dubai Police, the general public and visitors from all over the world. It’s the latest example of Dubai championing smart technology on a global level.”

A pioneering project that includes over 100 smart city initiatives and a plan to transform 1,000 government services across the full spectrum of public sector entities, the Dubai Plan 2021 aligns with the city’s preparations for hosting Expo 2020 Dubai, which is expected to attract more than 25 million visitors from October 2020 to April 2021.

Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions & Events Management, DWTC, says the new Dubai Police product launch signals an upsurge in closer government and public engagement for which GISEC, the Middle East’s largest dedicated cyber security, and IoTx are providing test-bed demonstration platforms.

“These futuristic events unite the world’s leading private sector innovators and technology providers with public sector decision-makers who are today pioneering smart city technology adoption across Dubai, the UAE and beyond,” said LohMirmand. “This launch is another example of the potential of both GISEC and IoTX as disruptive and transformative platforms for visionary technology solutions. The events open up tomorrow’s world, today.”

Dubai Police has partnered GISEC and IoTx 2017, which has also gained sponsorship traction from DARKMATTER as Cyber Security Innovation Partner, Digirobotics as the Smart Manufacturing Partner, Gulf Business Machines as the Official Security Solution Sponsor, Cisco and Spire Solutions as Platinum Sponsors and Infowatch as Panel Sponsor.

Powered by GITEX Technology Week, the region’s leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) event, GISEC 2017 is strictly open only to the security and intelligence community, including government departments, business and enterprise. Visitor attendance to the exhibition halls is free of charge, although attendees must purchase tickets to attend the events’ conferences. For more information, please visit www.gisec.ae.
