Gold double for Bahrain

Bahrain’s elite bodybuilders made yet another impressive show at the 2018 IFBB World Master Championships in Tarragona, in Spain recently.

The nationals took on some of the world’s best bodybuilding athletes, but a superb show saw them win two gold medals and one bronze.

Veteran Mohammed Subah clinched Bahrain’s maiden medal by taking home the master men’s bodybuilding 45-49 years up to 90kg gold , while Ali Al Khayyat doubled the kingdom’s account after coming on top in the master men’s bodybuilding 45-49 years up to
70kg category.

Sayed Hamza Al Hussaini rounded off Bahrain’s honorable show by winning the master men’s classic physique over 45 years open bronze.

The team was given a special welcome on return by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary general and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Abdulrahman Askar, BOC board member Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, BOC executive director Abduljalil Asad, Bahrain Weightlifting Federation president Sultan Al Ghanem besides other board members and officials.

Askar congratulated the team on this impressive achievement in one of the world’s most challenging bodybuilding championships.

He conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President to members of the team.

On his part, Al Ghanem thanked the BOC for its continued support to the federation and its contributions to the achievements. He said the results reflected the significant motivation of members of the team to lift the Bahrain flag in such world-level competitions.
