Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, and the Information & eGovernment Authority (IGA) recently conducted a knowledge sharing session at the airline’s Muharraq headquarters in order to raise awareness and facilitate understanding of the protection of state information and documents, in line with the State Secrets law.

Gulf Air A/Chief Executive Officer Mr. Maher Salman Al Musallam spoke of the session: “It is of critical importance that Gulf Air’s management team and the airline’s entire workforce, have the capabilities and knowledge to collect, classify and maintain information securely and responsibly – protecting and securing the airline’s information in all its forms to ensure there is no misuse. Such knowledge sharing sessions help us work together to secure all Gulf Air information and ensure the airline’s compliance with information handling requirements.”

The session was attended by representatives from a broad spectrum of Gulf Air divisions and was conducted by Mr. Ahmed Jaber Aldoseri, IGA’s Act. Director General of Information Security. Topics of discussion included recommendations and best practices on classification of information and documents and the various levels of protection that need to be applied throughout any information or document’s life cycle.

Mr. Aldoseri praised Gulf Air’s progressive information security practices, saying “Gulf Air is poised to have an exemplary implementation of the law’s requirements in protecting sensitive information, as it has exceptional senior-level awareness of prevalent security issues, and boasts a highly skilled team”.
