Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, today marked World Cancer Day with a company-wide initiative consisting of awareness and fundraising activities in collaboration with the Bahrain Cancer Society. The airline made Bahrain Cancer Society merchandise available for sale by Gulf Air staff at the airline’s headquarters with all proceeds going to the Society to benefit cancer research.
Taking place under the tagline ‘We can. I can.’, World Cancer Day 2016-2018 unites people around the world to show their support for the fight against cancer, aiming to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about the disease and encouraging people around the world to take action.
As the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and an integral national infrastructure asset Gulf Air prides itself on having a special connection with the Bahraini community, and is involved in various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with a number of local organizations. As a responsible global citizen the airline has, most recently, partnered with Dreams Society, on the occasion of World Charity Day, donating airline tickets to the local charity in order to help them realize the dreams of children effected with terminal illnesses and debilitating diseases. Additionally, Gulf Air collaborated with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) office in Bahrain to celebrate World Environment Day and raise environmental awareness amongst all members of the local community.
