One of the most important steps in hiring foreign employees is presenting accurate and up-to-date information about their health. If you’re an employer and involved in performing medical check-ups with every new expat staff member you hire, you’ll be happy to know that the wait is now far shorter than before thanks to the ‘Pre-Employment Health Check-up for Expatriate Workers’ service.

Offered by the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), and the National Health Regulatory Authority, the service gives businessmen, investors, and employers the ability to carry out their expat employees’ medical check-ups through the National Portal Bahrain.bh. The service, which is also in collaboration with private sector medical facilities, reduces the waiting time for health check-up appointments from 3 to 4 months to only 1 week. Fitness report certifiwwcates, which used to take 1 month to process, are also issued within 1 week through the new service.

Employers are provided the option to accelerate the timespan of procedures by using one of two types of services completed at the 25 licensed private medical facilities, which have been fully trained to use the new system. The ‘Standard’ service, which is available on LMRA’s website and Bahrain.bh, enables employers to book appointments based on the availability of these facilities. The ‘Premium’ service enables employers to benefit from a wide range of medical facilities at the standard costs offered by the medical facilities or service providers.

Upon arrival at Bahrain International Airport, the employee’s fingerprints are captured electronically then assigned an appointment based on the type of service selected by the employer. iGA has also made it possible to verify the employee’s identity through their fingerprints before booking the check-ups.
