His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander, patronised a ceremony marking the Commemoration Day, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the Al-Sakhir Palace.

Upon arrival, HM the King was welcomed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, National Guard Commander, General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

Then, the last tune was played. A number of fighter aircraft of the Royal Bahraini Air Force passed by, in tribute of loyalty to the martyrs of duty.

Addressing the ceremony, HM the King paid homage to the valiant fallen Bahrainis who sacrificed their lives and died honourably on the battlefield, performing their sacred duties since the establishment of the Bahraini state as an Arab and Muslim country by its founder, Ahmed Al-Fateh, in 1783, thus embodying the highest values of courage and redemption, and becoming a source of inspiration for the coming generations.

He stressed that the annual December 17 Commemoration Day will remain a shining milestone for a nation proud of its heroes who sacrificed their lives, in Bahrain and abroad, to achieve justice and defend the homeland’s security and sovereignty, combat terrorism and extend help to brothers, following the path of highly esteemed fathers and forefathers, who on their exploits was built victorious civilization.

HM the King saluted on this glorious occasion the valiant armed forces and the security institutions for defending the homeland and the dignity of its people with all courage and ardor.

“This is a day of appreciation for those who deserve esteem and  praise in its highest meanings. Every martyr of these heroes is a source of pride for his family and brothers in arms. Our righteous martyrs have written a glorious history of heroism that immortalized their names and the names of their families, so they became a pride for their country and their families”, he said.

HM the King paid tribute to the martyrs’ families which are as brave as their beloved who fell in the line of duty, defending their homeland, hailing their courage, resilience and patriotism.

He commended loyal citizens who remained cohesive and showed sympathy and solidarity with the relatives of the fallen servicemen in a united homeland.

He prayed to Allah the Almighty to rest the souls of fallen Bahraini heros and the martyrs of brotherly countries in eternal peace, wishing the Kingdom further progress and prosperity.
