Huawei and Arab Open University launch Huawei ICT Academy

Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Arab Open University to deliver training and certification programs to the university’s students via Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy program (HAINA). This collaboration aims at developing the ICT talent ecosystem in Bahrain to help achieve the digital transformation vision that the Kingdom aspires to.

The MoU was signed between Cao Hongyu (Jason), CEO of Huawei Bahrain and Prof. Ghurmallh Al Ghamdi, Arab Open University Director, in the presence of Dr. Minimol Job, Local Dean Faculty of Computer Studies at AOU, Dr. Hisham El-tahawy, Head of Training, Continuous Education and Community Service Center at AOU, Li Haiyun (Eric), PR Director at Huawei Bahrain, and other representatives from both sides.

Through this partnership, Arab Open University and Huawei will cooperatively work together to offer students Huawei ICT Academy training and certification programs through the HAINA initiative that meet the local students’ requirements and further help to build the ICT capacity and talent in the kingdom by upskilling local talent. Additionally, Huawei will provide Huawei Certification Academy Instructor (HCAI) training for the university’s professional instructors for each course direction.

The University will provide classroom and other teaching facilities to accommodate Huawei ICT equipment for the program, and will also embed the HAINA certification courses in its curriculum, liaise with local networking industry to deliver the training programs across a wider outreach of population in the ICT industry within Bahrain.Both parties will monitor the Haina programme and offer suggestions for continuous improvement, explore opportunities for alliances, and seek to address the ICT skills requirements within the Qatar ICT landscape.
