iGA calls for the public to report deaths in Bahrain within 72 hours

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain – The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) reaffirms the need for the public to report the deaths of citizens and residents in the Kingdom within 72 hours of their occurrence, and 60 days in the case of deaths outside the Kingdom. It stresses the need for the formal notifications to be made by relatives of to ensure that they are recorded in its registry.

In the case of births, the law specifies a 15-day notification period for births within the Kingdom and 60 days for those occurring outside the Kingdom. Hospitals in Bahrain report births and issue personal numbers so that guardians can complete the transactions of issuing birth certificate and ID card electronically through the National Portal bahrain.bh.

This is in accordance with the provisions of Article 12 of Law No. 7 in 2019 regulating birth and death registrations, which transferred the Births and Deaths Registration Unit from being under the Ministry of Health to the Information & eGovernment Authority.
