The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) participated in the 5th edition of National Sports Day, marked on 9th February, by arranging a number of sports activities for its employees via video conferencing technology. iGA Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, his deputies, senior management and employees took part in the event. The year’s edition was held remotely for the first time, which is in keeping with the directives of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President to support the efforts of the National Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The two-long program, presented virtually to employees working from the iGA’s office headquarters and working from  home, included a number of exercise techniques  aimed at improving blood circulation, and can be done anywhere and anytime in the office or home which were well received by the participants. Female employees were given a special online yoga session tapping on distress mechnisms that can be performed at the office or at home.

Al Qaed encouraged the employees’ commitment to the event. He said that sports can be made available to all, regardless of where they are based or the time of day, and that modern technologies have allowed participants to continue their exercise regimens and health club memberships through online programs. He urged the employees to continue exercising to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing during the current circumstances.
