The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) hosted the workshop entitled ‘Enhancing Administrative Records for Statistics Usage in GCC Countries’ yesterday. The workshop will be held at the Mövenpick Bahrain Hotel during 8th-11th May in collaboration with the GCC-STAT Center.

Workshop agenda began with the attendance and participation of approximately 25 establishment survey and census employees of national statistic agencies together with staff in the authorization as well as licensing entities and institutions, which represent the GCC countries.

State members presented, during the workshop, their work plans that demonstrate the implementation of the GCC Statistics Business Registers (SBR), the approved SBR variables along with the evaluation of the status of the administrative registrations in business records in state members. The workshop also comprised a presentation on the recommendations of the 25th Meeting of the Wiesbaden Group on Business Registers in Tokyo in addition to raising the technical capacity of national statistics agency employees and staff working in the fields of authorization and registration in GCC entities. This was conducted by first determining the training needs then organizing the workshops to deal with these data to enhance the administrative records that associate with GCC administrative statistic records.

It is worth noting that the GCC countries implement joint statistic projects to provide planners and policy-makers with timely information. The center also offers technical support for state members as well as assist them in applying the international standards within their statistical projects.
