The Diabetes and Ramadan (DAR) Alliance, in collaboration with Sanofi, has announced the launch of an integrated digital hub, which will help patients around the world manage their diabetes during the Ramadan period and beyond. It will also allow physicians to access up-to-date medical information that are relevant to the needs of patients from across the region.

“Nowadays, it’s easy to find high quality medical information – they are readily available on the internet and on our mobile devices. However, there remains a significant unaddressed needs specific to the one quarter of the world’s population: the Islamic population,” said Dr. Mohamed Hassanein, Chairman of the DAR Alliance. “Launching the new platform, we aim to address these needs for the first time ever and continue to become valuable partners for doctors treating patients, to people with diabetes, and the public in general globally.”

The DAR Alliance integrated digital platform contains various informational tools, including the DAR alliance website (daralliance.org), which serves as a hub housing links from where a category of users can access relevant content.

Healthcare professionals can make full use of the dedicated educational platform, the DAR Academy (daralliancehcp.org) to visit educational webcasts, download useful resources, and access a plethora of information. Under the name “DAR SaFa” (Diabetes and Ramadhan Safe Fasting), the general public will have access to the “Diabetes Nutrition Plan,” complemented by the all new “Know What You eat” section, where they can assess diabetes-tailored meals. In addition, they can also view educational videos on a diverse range of topics – from medical tips to religious information for the month of Ramadan.
